FamilyQuest — Delete your account

You can delete your FamilyQuest account and your family's data at any time. There are two ways: inside the app, or by asking us here if you no longer have the app installed.

In the app (fastest, takes effect immediately)

Available in iPhone 1.0.1, Android phone 1.3.1 and Fire TV 1.2.1 and later. If your copy doesn't show a “Delete account…” option, update the app — or just email us, below, which works from any version.

iPhone or iPad:

Open FamilyQuest and tap the gear icon (top left).
Scroll to the bottom, to Family Cloud.
Tap Delete account… and confirm.

Android phone: tap the cloud icon (top left) to open Family Sync, scroll to the bottom, tap Delete account… and confirm.

Apple TV / Fire TV: open Parent's Settings (Apple TV) or Manage family (Fire TV), answer the adults-only question, then choose Delete account…

You may be asked to sign in again first. That is a security check by our sign-in provider, which requires a recent login before an account can be deleted.

By request (if you've uninstalled the app)

Email familyquestapp9@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my FamilyQuest account”, sent from the email address you used to sign in (Apple or Google). We use that address only to find your account and confirm the request came from you.

We delete the account within 30 days, and normally within a few days. You'll get a reply confirming it's done. If you signed in with Apple's Hide My Email option, write from the relay address Apple gave you — that is the address we hold.

What gets deleted

Your sign-in account and the identifier that links it to your family.
If yours is the only device left in your family: the family itself and everything in it — family members, their goals and rewards, every logged day, week history, and any avatar or keepsake photos.
If other devices are still in your family: your account is removed and the family's data stays with them, which is the point of a shared family. To delete the family's data as well, remove the other devices first (or ask us to delete the whole family in your email).

Deletion is permanent. There is no backup we can restore from afterwards. If you want to keep a copy, use Settings → Export backup… in the iPhone app before deleting; it writes a single file you can re-import later.

Deleting some data but keeping your account

You don't need us for this — inside the app you can delete any family member (which also deletes their goals, logs and history), any goal, and any photo. Removing a family member cannot be undone.

Backups

Once an account is deleted, any copies in the hosting provider's routine backups age out within 90 days. Nothing is retained for advertising or analytics, because the app contains no advertising or analytics at all.
